ishimaru in san jose where temperatures and records stood for 41 years could be shattered over the next fiewr hours. heather? >> this may be a little confusing. this stuff in my hair is snow that they were making here at christmas in the park. i walked under the snow making machine about two minutes ago and if there is anything still left that's an indication of how cold it is. two hours ago or so when we first got here the snow would not have saved my hair. it is cold. how cold will it get? that's what everyone is wondering. will it break a record tonight? >> the holiday spirit warmed hearts at this tree lighting fundraiser hosted by action day primary plus schools and daycare. carol fritas and her husband founded it in 1968. she remembers the last record low in san jose, 29 degrees on december 5th, 1972. >> ♪ the day i will always remember ♪ >> when the temptations "papa was a rolling stone" topped

to a bus stop in mill pea dislast night. a woman appeared to be trying to board the bus when a man pulled her away and toward the back of a nearby business. the bus driver called 9-1-1, but by the time police arrived both people were gone. developing news. workers plan to work off the job at fast-food outlets across the bay and across the country. it is the latest in a series of protests. they are urging fast-food restaurants to pay their workers $15 an hour. rallies will place at lunchtime tomorrow at some locations at mcdonalds in vallejo and antioch. millions of accounts hacked. next on abc7 news, if you use facebook, twitter or other popular social media sites you may booy a victim and not even realize it. the personal information published on-line. >> and huge tips left at restaurants all over the country and now tonight new details on the bay area tech

potentially deadly cargo have turned up after a massive search across mexico. the truck carried a container of cobalt 60 radio active material used in cancer treatments. two armed men seized the truck as it headed toward a ncility. he robberscility. wanted the vehicle and didn't know what the cargo was. they say cobalt 60 can be used to make dirty bombs. a new tribute in memory of paul walker, the actor killed in a fiery car accident over the weekend. >> ♪ tell the world i'm coming home ♪ ♪ i'm coming home >> the video was posted on the "fast and furious" youtube channel and shows a montage of the role that made him a star in 2001. universal pictures halted production of the seventh film in the series. the studio says it is

assessing all options to move forward with the franchise. one couple will remember paul walker for his generousity. kyle had just returned from his army deployment from iraq and wanted to buy his wife the perfect ring before he was deployed again. when the couple left the store without a ring, walker who happened to be in the store at thnonymously bought anonymouslyt for them. the couple only found out it was walker when the jeweler shared the story after his death. >> a massive security breech and hackers stole user names and pass words for about two million social media and e-mail accounts. the thefts began in october. hackers have seized log-in information for facebook, twitter, yahoo!, youtube and other sites. researchers tracked it to a server in the netherlands. so far there is no evidence the hackers have actually accessed any of the accounts. last night we told you about the person who is leaving uh astonishingly large tips at restaurants. it has been happening for weeks now. it is all chronicled on an instagram page.

somebody is sitting a the a table at harris' steak house, exfrom, left a $1500 tip last month. it was signed simply, tips for jesus. there it is on the receipt. now silicon valley blog, valley wag, discovered the mystery tipper is former paypal vice president jack selby. he cashed out for millions when the company was sold to ebay. selby has not commented or confirmed that valley wag report. need a christmas tree but don't have time to visit a lot? there is an app for that. they are teaming up with home depot to deliver christmas trees to customers in san francisco. all you have to do is click on the special christmas tree icon on the uber smart phone app and your douglas fir will show up in minutes. convenience doesn't come cheap. it will run you $135 and it is only available tomorrow between 11:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. >> you can order a pea -- pizza and now a christmas tree. help us feed the bay area

napa, 19 degrees will shatter its previous record set in 1972. san rafael a record at 30, 38 in san francisco and getting really two degrees below the previous record. oakland is expected to tie at 35 and livermore and san jose pretty cold there. but it is not cold enough for records. gilroy is expected to hit 24 degrees. you can see a lot of those records were set in 1972. the roof camera is showing you the view. pretty calm here. san francisco at 43. 38 in oakland. a little breeze holding your temperature up above freezing by 2 degrees. redwood city, los gatos, half moon bay, 36 degrees. you can see it is clear in the financial district. check out the temperatures. we are looking at 28 in santa rosa and 26 in napa. the current temperature in chicago is 38 degrees. we are running much colder than what they are dealing with right now. 27 in fairfield and 33 in livermore.

here is what the windchill factor plays into things and this is what it really feels like. a little breeze and fairfield is feeling like 20 degrees. 21 in napa. we are talking windchill here. 25 in novato. the view from the so tro tower camera as we look toward a sparkling san francisco night. freeze rn whattings in effect for all areas except san francisco. record lows are likely in the morning. chilly in the afternoon. really that continues for friday as well with a wintry mix on friday afternoon and going into saturday morning. we will be talking about low snow levels tomorrow morning 19 in napa as i mentioned and 21 in santa rosa. it will be icy cold in some parts of the bay area. 26 concord and 30 san jose and 32 palo alto and half moon bay. you will need all of your heavy, thick winter clothes, 24 degrees in fairfield and 25 in livermore. as you look here, the cold air mass is settling right over us. this will likely be the coldest night of the next seven days and then this disturbance drops south and this is coming in from western
